My Innie Is Becoming An Outtie and Other Pregnancy Related Things

Things are moving along with this pregnancy and, as we approach the third trimester, life has been revolving more and more around little Baby Frisby.

Indeed, my innie bellybutton is gradually becoming an outtie. It's kind of grossing me out. I know it's normal, but still. I liked my bellybutton as an innie.

Sometimes I look in my closet at all of the clothes I used to wear and I long to be able to wear them again. Primarily, they give me a lot more variety. But, also maternity clothes just suck sometimes.

We've begun converting our "office" to a "nursery". It all started with finishing the armoire (and frankly, that's what lit the fire under my butt to actually finish the armoire). Once I finished the armoire, the great furniture shuffle could occur. The nursery is now emptied out and we just finished painting it. It's a nice light, pastel green. A gender-neutral color. That way, if we have a boy down the road, I won't have to paint again. I don't mind switching out curtains, bumper pads, etc. But, I don't want to paint again. I would post a picture, but I'm just too lazy to go take one. Use your imagination. Or just wait until we actually get some furniture in there and then I really will take a picture.

I've never been so concerned about what I'm eating in my life. Being pregnant seems to have made me a nutrition freak. All of a sudden, I'm concerned with things like Iron content of foods, pairing Vitamin C intake with Iron intake (because it helps your body absorb the Iron better), getting Calcium fortified OJ, and drinking copious amounts of water. I had a proud moment the other day. I decided I needed a snack. On my way to the chocolate chip cookies and in a rare moment of impressive self control, I decided I should eat something healthy so I got some strawberries instead.

And on the subject of eating, I'm really working on the concept of eating 6 (or 8 or 10) small "meals" per day as opposed to 3 regular ones. It's a very difficult concept for me. Actually, I'm fine with the concept. It's the practice of it that's hard. I don't know why, but I have a hard time sitting down to a meal and not eating as much as I normally would. I'm slowly getting better at it, though, because when I do successfully eat the small meals, I'm a lot more comfortable.

And, still on the subject of eating, I've made a new friend. It's name is heartburn. I could count on two fingers the number of times in my life I had heartburn up until a couple weeks ago. Consider that record annihilated. My friendship with heartburn has led to another new friendship in my life. It's with milk. Actually, milk and I have been fast friends ever since I was born. But, now we're friends at 2 o'clock in the morning as well.

Okay, off the subject of eating, I've started my own pregnancy workout plan. I've been working out here and there since I found out I was pregnant, but I haven't been super consistent. Some weeks were better than others. But, I wasn't a total slacker. Anyway, in the last couple of weeks (probably as the prospect of labor draws near), I've decided I need to do better. Being in good shape makes labor easier (or so they say) and I'm hoping it will make it easier to lose the weight after delivery. So, I decided that I need to be a little more regular with my cardio and strength training and I also decided it's time to start working in some core strength stuff. I started looking at pregnancy workout dvds online and reading all the reviews to see which one was the best. Then I thought, "you're an idiot. You work as a strength and conditioning coach. You don't need someone else to train you. You can come up with your own workout." So, I did. I came up with my workout plan and I started it this week. And, I think that since I actually have it all planned out, I'm going to stick to it.

We're planning a trip to Utah and Idaho in a couple weeks. It will be fun to see family and have a little vacation. But, we also need to pick up a bunch of baby equipment from my sister.

And, that is how life is revolving around Baby Frisby. We're excited to meet her!

A Birthday Wish

My birthday is coming. I have one simple wish. I just want some decent weather so I can use my pool.
