Toot, toot

I don't usually like to toot my own horn (False. I like to toot my own horn whenever I can.), but I have to blog about my successful pizza-making last night because I was pretty proud of myself. For Christmas, my brother and sister-in-law gave us a pizza stone, pizza peel, and this bad boy:

We had no choice but to get down to business and make some pizzas!

I decided that I didn't want to bite off more than I could chew, so for this pizza-making endeavor, I kept it simple and just made the dough from the book's recipe. An entire CPK pizza will have to wait until I have honed my pizza/dough-making skills. The book explains how to make the dough, shape the dough, throw the dough, and then cook the pizzas. Everything was pretty straight-forward, but throwing the dough was a little tricky. It took some practice, but I got it down fairly well. No pictures of that since Jared was busy with class while I was throwing it. I think the pizzas turned out pretty well, though, and I'm excited to make some of the actual CPK pizzas, including my favorite, the Tostada Pizza. Mmmmm!

Here are the finished products:

You're making me very hungry right now. Those pizzas look amazing! Although I'm pretty sad that there are no pictures of the tossing. Come on! (said in GOBs voice). I will agree with you though, the Tostada is freaking amazing and is my favorite pizza too. If i suddenly appear in your apartment the evening you make that pizza... don't be surprised.

I haven't even finished reading this post. I got to "False. I like to toot my own horn whenever I can." and started cracking up. I could die happy right now.

Okay. I read it. That dough looks amazing! I made dough in our bread maker the other day and it was kind of crappy. In fact, my bread maker has yet to produce anything amazing. I'm a bit discouraged. But I want to know how to make your pizza dough!

Good job. You'll have to share some tips with me. I have a great dough recipe, but I have no idea how to "throw" it. :) I get better the more I use our stone, but tips can always help.

Those are beautiful. My pizzas always end up amoeba shaped, so I'm pretty impressed that yours are round and plump and cute.

Toot, toot away - those pizzas look delectable! Can we come over for dinner, please?

Okay, I am kinda laughing at my comment - I meant, of course, to toot your horn, not the other tooting. Remember the guy on the way home from So Cal who called it pooting? Now I am really laughing.

Lance would like to place an order for their BBQ chicken pizza with you.

Good job Jenni. Can you email the recipe to me so I can see how it compares to the one I have from CPK. Also, so I can see how it stacks up to my recipe.
