I don't usually do posts about other people on my blog, but I'm going to take some liberties today and talk about Mr. Frisby. This last weekend, Mr. Frisby and I drove down to San Diego. More on our trip adventures later. The purpose of our excursion was to attend Mr. Frisby's graduation from San Diego State. For the last 2.5 years or so, Mr. Frisby has been working on his Master's degree. He's been enrolled in San Diego State's Distance Learning Educational Technology program (I hope I got that right). I know from experience that Master's Degrees are a LOT of work. And it's not everyday you get hooded. So, we thought it would be good to go down to SD for his graduation ceremony.
Aside from having to be there at 7 am on Sunday morning, the ceremony went well. SDSU does their commencement ceremonies by college as opposed to the entire university, so they actually read everyone's names and had them go on stage to get their degrees. All of the Master's candidates were hooded on stage as well. I wanted to get good pictures, but the ceremony was held in the Arena and the lighting was atrocious for any decent photography, at least from my vantage point.
That blurry mass is Mr. Frisby being hooded. As they were trying to move quickly, they had quite the system down for hooding them. It reminded me a bit of the scene in A Christmas Story when the kids go to sit on Santa's lap and the system they had for moving the kids through quickly.
Surprisingly, I was able to get a decent shot of Mr. Frisby walking out during the recessional.
After the ceremony, we met back up and took a few pictures on campus. Here's Master Frisby:

Anyway, I just have to say how proud I am of Mr. Frisby. He's worked very hard and given up a lot of time and energy and ended up being one of the top students in his program. Congratulations, Mr. Frisby!

Oh, and congrats, Mr. Frisby! You're an EdTechy now! I know the EdTech people here at the school of medicine, so if you apply here, I will put in an amazingly glowing recommendation for you. Because, well, I'd be telling the truth.
Congratulations to you both! What an accomplishment.
